But that’s like changing the color of your car and expecting the engine to run better.
We all want fun meaningful things in life. Nice car, home, a great paying job, vacations, loving relationships. But those things can’t fill what is lacking inside. You won’t find a loving relationship if you don’t first love yourself. You won’t find happiness in a nice car or home, if you’re first, not happy with yourself. Because once the novelty wears off, you’re back looking for the next thing, and the next thing, never feeling satisfied and wondering why.
When you reach a point where you’re happy whether you have someone to share your life with or not, then, magically, that perfect partner will show up. Why then? Because they’ll match your inner being. You’re not coming together out of need and loneliness. You’re coming together because you simply want to celebrate, share and each enjoy other.
When we fulfill our own needs first, we never feel afraid of loss or change. Because we don’t experience the world as it is, we experience it as we are.
