A Note from Alla Rogers, AllaRogersGallery.art — I am honored to curate this art exhibition from the collection of Maxym Melnyk of Sofia Art Gallery in Kyiv, Ukraine. Its main purpose is to broaden our appreciation of Ukraine and to raise funds for medical services and supplies so urgently needed as a result of Russia’s unprovoked invasion.
In partnership with Mariya Stolyar and Jenniffer Goodman, General Manager of The Ven Hotel at Embassy Row, we present a celebration of Ukrainian culture. It is an affirmation of Ukraine’s great devotion to beauty and its cultural heritage, as Ukraine (Rus) dates back to the 10th century and even earlier, as part of a rich pagan culture with roots in the Stone Age.
We celebrate its resilience as a nation and a people, enduring countless wars, genocide, and brutal assaults on its cultural identity. Under a cloud of war, defending its sovereignty and right to exist, the world community is only now getting an idea about the true spirit of Ukraine!
This exhibition will help the viewer glimpse some of Ukraine’s landscapes, traditions, and artistry in both the fine arts and decorative arts and music.
In my capacity as the Director of Global Peace Education Network’s Art and Cultural Impact Programs, I affirm that peace building, bridge building and opening avenues of connection is a process of education, both formal and informal, that allows us to recognize our shared humanity. It is a process in which we can all participate. We are one human family.
A Note from Sofiaurkaineart at The Ven at Embassy Row Hotel, Washington, DC — On April 13, we had an Opening Reception for “Ukraine: A Celebration of Beauty and Resilience” – art exbibit and sale featuring the finest names in Ukrainian contemporary art from the private collection of our Kyiv-based gallery.
The art on display showcases prominent Ukrainian artists such as Andriy Antoniuk, Andriy Chebotaru, Oleksandr Filbert, Feodosiy Humeniuk, Nestir Kizenko, Yevhen Leshchenko, Oleksiy Poliakov, Pavlo Volyk, and others. A total of 47 paintings are included in this unprecedented Ukrainian cultural occurrence in the Nation’s capital.
Our ultimate goal is to raise money for charities that help Ukrainian children, and their families recover from the physical and mental wounds of the ongoing war — @ohmatdyt , @ua.hospitals , @ukrainevolyafoundation , Pulse of Ukraine, and @standrewuoc .
We would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to our guests and benefactors, and to our beautiful volunteers who made this well-attended event a true celebration!
Exbibit is open to public through June 1 and individual appointments are encouraged! You can set up an appointment by sending us a PM or by contacting our art curator @allarogers.
Visit our exbibit, bring your friends, buy Ukrainian art, donate and help save Ukrainian lives and culture!
Yours,
@sofiaukraineart
